bounced up to mammoth this past weekend for some early season shredding. my friend brad was driving and had a free place to crash at erik’s pad, so why not. bailed out friday afternoon and made it out of LA with just a little traffic. there was supposed to be a snow storm that night but instead of snow it brought crazy wind. a little bit outside of mojave it started getting super windy. blowing the truck and tons of debris across the road, took out a tumbleweed or two. got up there and cooked up some steak and lobster. brad had gone lobster diving the day before and brought up em up. bomb dinner no doubt. got up in the morning and the wind had passed, sunny and perfect out. hit the mountain where there was more snow then i thought there would be. open top to bottom, little mini park, and over all enough open to have fun and not get bored. i did barney it and forget my camera at the cabin and to top it off my board took a casualty. nice deep gash right up on the rail. funny thing is i know i didnt hit any rocks. but brad did borrow my board for a run and on that run he charged into a suspect patch of snow. one would say he even fell, most likely from hitting a monster rock, hmmm… anyway got home today and performed some ptex surgery and should be good to go. if not brad owes me a new board.

been following these TED talks for awhile now. missed this one, definitely worth taking a listen.

shit went down out front of the office on friday. one of the neighboring buildings had a bomb scare. i guess a bit more then a scare due to the fact that they actually found a “device.” they shut down the street and called in the bomb squad.

if you look close, in the back of the truck you can see the robot they use to disarm the bombs.

Last thursday hit up the launch party for the 686 and new balance collaboration. It was held at blends in downtown LA. Well maybe not exactly at blends but more like the alley right next to blends. Art walk was going on as well. Super fun time and only rained for like 15-20 mins tops…

hit up the drifter premiere last night at the montalban theater in hollywood. big thanks to the peeej for hookin up some passes. i havent been to a surf premiere in a long time. more used to skate and snowboarding movies, so this was a bit refreshing and a bit more mellow then i am used to. the movie itself was a bit more different then your typical surf movie as well. filmed over three months in bali of just rob machado slaying epic waves. almost kind of felt like into the wild but a bit more hokey. ha. tried to be serious and deep and in my opinion didnt really pull it off that well. like when you’re alone you’re never really alone. hmmm, really rob? you sure your not just tripping out from going through a divorce? hmmm… but as i said the surfing was epic and the cinematography was dope. rob and jon swift jammed to bonus footage after the movie which was really cool too. super fun time…
